Classic Kodachrome Monday #65

Every Monday, I'll be spotlighting a different classic Kodachrome slide that I've picked up, and trying where I can to detail the who, what, when, where, why, and how (much) of the image:

This Week:

What: Along the Boulevard

Why: A contrasty image to be certain, but one that just exhibits such a great look at a time long passed.  The automobiles are all of a long discontinued style, while the people on the street all seem to be dressed in some very fine outfits for strolling the boulevard.

When: Based on other shots in the same set taken on what clearly seems to be the same outing, I can pinpoint this to have been taken likely in the Summer of 1939.

Where: Saratoga Springs, NY. A little bit of help from a site follower as well as a Google search led to the location of this.  It always helps to have a well situated landmark like the Hotel Adelphi in the frame, which still exists today, though in a much different paint scheme than it wore prior to World War II..

Who: Not sure who these finely dressed folks are.

How (much): Among a set of 9 slides that I got for about $20.00, half of which were real keepers.  That seems to put the relative cost to about $4.00 or so for this incredible image.
