Classic Kodachrome Monday #70
Every Monday, I'll be spotlighting a different classic Kodachrome slide that I've picked up, and trying where I can to detail the who, what, when, where, why, and how (much) of the image:
This Week:
Why: It certainly has a "Frontier Town" feel to it, despite the presence of then-contemporary autos. It is an image that certainly seems fantasy like in nature given the way the street and sidewalks are laid out, with dirt roads and wooden boards for sidewalks.
The image also carried a few special bonuses in the markings on the mount. Not only are the date and photographer listed, but the exposure information as well. This image is listed as being taken on a 50mm lens at f/2.8 for 1/100 of a second.

When: July 1, 1957, at 4:35PM.
Where: Skagway, AK. The frontier feel definitely fits with being an Alaska image, for whom statehood was still a couple of years away. The scene has managed to remain remarkably unchanged in the nearly 60 years since this scene was taken, though the setting is much more tourist oriented than it was in the 1950's.
Who: The photographer of this deserted scene was Mr. Earl W. Youngmeyer of Wichita, Kansas.
How (much): A $6.99 pickup from a favorite seller on ebay.
This is the article Classic Kodachrome Monday #70 this time, hopefully can benefit for you all. well, see you in other article post.
