Classic Kodachrome Monday #72
Every Monday, I'll be spotlighting a different classic Kodachrome slide that I've picked up, and trying where I can to detail the who, what, when, where, why, and how (much) of the image:
This Week:
What: Hustle and Bustle
Why: Vibrant, healthy, and bathed in warm sunlight, this commercial district image just gives off that "great to be alive" sort of feel. The stores are all thriving, the street is clean and beautifully decorated, and on a cold morning like this in the Northeast, it is nice to feel the warmth that this image exudes.
When: 1958 according to the slide mount.
Where: St. Petersburg, FL. While the area is still "pretty" today, it does not give off nearly the amount of vibrance evident in this sunny scene. The street in the scene, Central Avenue, does not give off the "major artery" feel that can be seen in this image, but rather looks like a former grand dame to which a makeover was given to convert it into a secondary passage. The block of stores on the right has since met the wrecking ball, but much of the buildings on the left side have been retained, as well as the old McCrory's sign!
Who: Tons of people, none of which are noted.
How (much): A$6.99 ebay pickup.
This is the article Classic Kodachrome Monday #72 this time, hopefully can benefit for you all. well, see you in other article post.
